Before Europeans Came To The Vast Region That Is Now The United States, Over One Million Native Americans Inhabited The Land, From The Northern Ice Wastes To The Southern Swamps, From The Eastern Forests To The Western Plains After Four Centuries Of Nearly Continuous Warfare, Fewer Than Four Hundred Thousand Remained This Is The Dramatic, Heartrending Account Of Their Survivalagainst All Odds. Missing some events I had hoped to have seen detailed such as the Shawnee and the Point Pleasant battle, for example. Not really balanced, found it to be a bit dry, and well, as it s about war, not really my thing Might make my opinion a bit lacking as I m not really into these kinds of books. Found this in a pleasant used bookstore in Long Beach just down the street from LBCC s main campushas some of the biases to be expected about history books on American Indians written by white Americans before we entered the era of modern historical scholarship Not a bad book It feels a bit biased at times and not very organzied Some details that don t feel too important are hammered in while others are just glanced.
