My review Gods and Fathers is a powerful book It draws you into it and odes not let it go before you have turned the last page It is well written, interesting, it is rich on plotting and tells you a disturbing story of a father and a son James LePore gives you much than an relationship between a father and a son, he also gives the reader an interesting story of how politics between US and Middle East and a struggle between orthodox Muslims and progressive Muslims can influence a family It s a war with no mercy Regarding the plot The story starts with a law case against a young man who has killed his sister and you meet one of the main characters Matt DeMarco who is a prosecutor on the case After De Marco winning the case the reader is brought 16 years ahead where Matt s son is accused of murder and rape of her girlfriend Then the story really picks up and you will get the mixture of politics, murders, and innocent people being accused and killed and in the middle of it you have Matt who tries to figure out what happened and get the charges off his son Matt is helped by NYPD where is has some loyal friends, but he soon finds out that there are not many people he can trust FBI, CIA, Assad and oth
Disclosure I received a free eBook ARC from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest reviewSynopsis from NetGalley Matt DeMarco is an accomplished Manhattan attorney with than his share of emotional baggage His marriage ended disastrously, his ex wife has pulled their son away from him, and her remarriage to a hugely successful Arab businessman has created complications for Matt on multiple levels However, his life shifts from troubled to imperiled when two cops men he s known for a long time come into his home and arrest his son as the prime suspect in the murder of the boy s girlfriend Suddenly, the enmity between Matt and his only child is no longer relevant Matt must do everything he can to clear his son, who he fully believes is innocent Doing so will require him to quit his job and make enemies of former friends and it will throw him up against forces he barely knew existed and can only begin to comprehend how to battle Gods and Fathers is at once a powerful mystery and a provocative international thriller, all of it presented with LePore s signature fascinating characters placed in dire circumstances where every choice poses new and potentially fatal challenges. My Thoughts This was a wonderfully intricate story It is
My Opinion Gods and Fathers was a great suspense filled novel that you enjoyed and were turning pages as fast as you could I really enjoyed it We are taken on a journey of fathers and their sons Matt who is the father of Micheal who has allegedly killed his girlfriend Micheal and Matt don t get along Matt s ex wife Debra is at fault Matt is a defense attorney and is trying to find out why Micheal is accused of murdering his girlfriend What a thrilling ride the whole way Matt is a semi likable character although I never felt like I particularly liked him in the book I still liked the story This has some political messages in it All of which I enjoyed I felt for Micheal then any of the characters in the book I understood why he was mad all the time Jade Matt s ex girlfriend and becoming girlfriend again spills her secret to Matt on why they broke up and then Matt spills his secret Matt to me is a hypocrite who I didn t really care for In fact I just didn t like him a lot and felt he need justice himself I also didn t like that he felt he should take it upon himself to find and kill who needed killing and with cops who were his friends I liked the idea of the story and it was really well written, I just didn t like the characters I think the author could have created some better main characters But, because this book could provoke such strong opinions and the author could get me totally involved in his characters and have such a reaction
This is the first book I read by James LePore, but it defenitely isn t the last book I will read by him Gods and Fathers is a well written and developed story and with it s only 260 pages a fast read Due to the different points of view you get a good look from different sides of the story, but it does not give anything away about the plot of this story That is the strongest part of this book not knowing what will come next It also made me flip page after page just to see what would happen next.I liked Matt as the main protaganist, he is an accomplished attorney, with some anger management issues and a troubled relationship with his son But when it comes down to it he will do anything to help his son and clear his name But this story is full of intriguing characters, who all leave there own footprint And they are utterly human, they have their flaws just like you and me or anybody else you may know I really enjo
Matt Demarco is a successful prosecuting attorney with an ex wife who married a rich Arab businessman and a son who he can no longer connect with He has just about given up on mending his relationship with his son when Michael is arrested for the rape and murder of his girlfriend Matt quits his job and will stop at nothing to prove his son is innocent Gods and Fathers is my second LePore book I love the author s non stop action in both books The one thing that prevents this book from being 5 stars for me is that I had a hard time deciphering some of the names, characters and organizations of the bad guys in the book Other than that I was fully engrossed in the story and was impressed by the way I was sucked into the book by
This is the type of thriller I have been missing A little dark, but with moral lessons, and great characters, Gods and Fathers will be a suspense thriller that I think about for quite awhile after I have finished it I will continue to process what happened in the book and think about the characters It s a true thriller in that it kept me turning the pages, but it also had me invested in the characters Mr LePore has scored a home run with me with Gods and Fathers and found a loyal fan to read his previous books and any future books as well.I love a good thriller and anyone who reads them knows that the plot drives them And the plot does drive Gods and Fathers I went through the whole book trying to figure out who did it and why There were a sufficient number of suspects that I was always kept guessing and I never could figure out the whys no matter how many hints Mr LePore threw out The plot was really well done I think it was very carefully crafted It was also well paced It was never too slow nor did it feel too rushed towards the end.The plot was a main part of this book, but the characters stood out as well and were crafted too I loved Matt He s a hot head who is not perfect, but he has work
GODS AND FATHERS BY JAMES LePORE Published by The Story PlantISBN 10 1611880297ISBN 13 978 1611880298 At the request of The Story Plant, an ARC EBook Edition was provided, at no cost to me, for my honest opinion Synopsis from publisher Matt DeMarco is an accomplished Manhattan attorney with than his share of emotional baggage His marriage ended disastrously, his ex wife has pulled their son away from him, and her remarriage to a hugely successful Arab businessman has created complications for Matt on multiple levels However, his life shifts from troubled to imperiled when two cops men he s known for a long time come into his home and arrest his son as the prime suspect in the murder of the boy s girlfriend.Suddenly, the enmity between Matt and his only child is no longer relevant Matt must do everything he can to clear his son, who he fully believes is innocent Doing so will require him to quit his job and make enemies of former friends and it will throw him up against forces he barely knew existed and can only begin to comprehend how to battle My Thoughts and Opinion To be completely honest in reviewing this book, I feel I should start with a caveat I don t usually read novels that have espionage, government intelligence and or spy plots And from reading the synopsis, I did not think that this book held those elements However, as I was caught up in the story, and then when international terrorism was introduced into the story line, I didn t

Police, politics, attorneys, terrorists, ruthless murderers, and money..lots of money Put all of these together and you get a complicated, shady case of who done it Had Matt really killed his girlfriend or was he framed The characters are intense, wealthy, and quite interesting They range from police detectives to wealthy attorneys and from spoiled, rich children and wives to house help.some who really shouldn t be trusted Each character has his or her own unique characterization and connections The reader will get a glimpse into corruption in investigations and the alarming happenings that occur inside and outside of the courtroom when trying to prove an accused person is innocent This may include eliminating some of the suspects or folks that would have been able to testify.Matt, the accused, was sequestered in his mother and step father s home on at 500K bail for the murder of his girlfriend who he was going to marry in a few months Matt denies the charge, but the evidence whether ho
